FAQs
What age does my dog need to be for this training?
Puppies can start training as early as 8 weeks old. Starting young is ideal for teaching foundational skills, socialisation, and building confidence, but I can tailor training for older puppies as well.
How many sessions will my puppy need?
The number of sessions depends on your goals and your puppy's progress. Many owners find that a package of 3-5 sessions covers most basics. For ongoing support as your puppy grows, we can create a custom training plan. Here is a link to my Puppy Training Package.
What does a 1-2-1 puppy training session include?
Each session covers essentials such as crate training, house training, socialisation, basic commands (like sit, stay, and come), and managing common puppy behaviours (such as biting and chewing). I tailor each session to meet your puppy's needs and your specific goals.
Will I need to practice with my dog outside of these sessions?
Absolutely! Consistent practice is key to making training stick. I’ll provide you with simple exercises to reinforce what we’ve covered, ensuring your dog continues to improve between sessions.
What training methods do you use?
I use positive, reward-based techniques that are science-backed and dog-friendly. These methods are effective and help foster trust and a positive relationship between you and your dog.
Do I need to prepare anything for the session?
Yes, please have treats, a leash, a comfortable collar or harness, and any training tools you may be using (like a crate or puppy pen). If there’s a particular toy or item your puppy loves, having it on hand can help keep them engaged.
How long is each session?
Each 1-2-1 puppy training session is 90 minutes. This length covers a full consultation and allows us to cover a lot without overwhelming your puppy. We can adjust the session length based on your puppy’s energy and attention span.
Will I receive any resources or support after the session?
Absolutely! After each session, I’ll provide notes, tips, and exercises to reinforce what we covered, along with checklists and resources for ongoing training at home.
Can I do sessions at home, or are they only remote?
I offer both in-home and remote sessions, depending on your location and preference. For clients outside a 5-mile radius, additional mileage charges may apply for in-home visits.
What if my puppy has specific behavioural issues?
If your puppy has specific challenges (like separation anxiety or excessive barking), we can address these as part of the training. For more complex issues, I may recommend additional sessions to provide focused support.
