FAQs
What age does my dog need to be for this training?
This session is designed for adolescent and adult dogs, typically 6 months and older. For puppies under 6 months, my Puppy Training sessions are more suitable, focusing on early socialisation and foundational skills.
How long is each session?
Each Basic Obedience Training session is 1 hour, packed with exercises and practical guidance to help you and your dog make real progress.
What should I bring to the session?
Please bring high value (chicken, cheese or sausage)treats your dog loves, a leash, a harness, and a favourite toy (if they have one). These items help keep your dog engaged and comfortable during the session.
Can this training help with specific behaviour issues like barking or jumping up?
Yes! While this session focuses on foundational commands, I will also cover impulse control and may address behaviours like barking or jumping, depending on your dog’s needs. If more extensive behaviour support is needed, we can discuss additional training options.
Will I need to practice with my dog outside of these sessions?
Absolutely! Consistent practice is key to making training stick. I’ll provide you with simple exercises to reinforce what we’ve covered, ensuring your dog continues to improve between sessions.
What training methods do you use?
I use positive, reward-based techniques that are science-backed and dog-friendly. These methods are effective and help foster trust and a positive relationship between you and your dog.
How many sessions will my dog need?
The number of sessions depends on your goals and your dog’s progress. Many owners see improvement after a single session, but ongoing training can be beneficial to solidify skills, especially for more complex behaviours.
Can I book a session at home or do I need to come to a specific location?
I offer both in-home sessions and remote options, so we can choose what works best for you. If you're located beyond a 5-mile radius, additional mileage charges may apply for in-home visits.
How much does the session cost?
Each 1-hour Basic Obedience Training session is £65.
